Secure Gateway (SGW) bypass cable for FCA / Stellantis vehicles equipped with this security gateway, mainly from 2018 onwards. It plugs into the 12-pin and 8-pin connectors of the SGW, behind the dashboard, and allows a compatible diagnostic tool to communicate with the vehicle's CAN network.
The problem
Since 2018, many Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat and Alfa Romeo models have been equipped with an SGW. This module acts as a firewall between the OBD-II port and the computers. An unauthorized tool is limited to reading codes and data, or displays an error such as "unable to communicate with the computer".
The solution
The cable replaces the SGW in the communication path. The module's original connectors are disconnected and connected to the cable, then your tool connects to the other end. The SGW no longer intervenes in the exchanges.
Alternative: some tools allow authenticated manufacturer access (AutoAuth account), without a cable. This product is intended for those who want to do without it.
Important before buying
- This is not a cable that plugs into the dashboard's OBD-II port: it connects to the SGW module, which must be located and accessed.
- This is not a diagnostic tool: you must already own a scanner or interface compatible with FCA 12+8 connections.

The SGW is equipped on many vehicles from 2018 and newer. Not all models and markets are affected: the presence of the SGW and the type of connector depend on the model, year and market.

Installation
- 1. With the vehicle stopped, locate the SGW module (under the steering wheel, behind the dashboard or radio depending on the model).
- 2. Disconnect the two connectors from the SGW (12-pin and 8-pin).
- 3. Plug the corresponding connectors of the bypass cable into their place.
- 4. Connect your scanner or diagnostic interface to the other end of the cable.
- 5. Start the diagnostic session from your tool.
Once the intervention is finished, reconnect the original connectors to the SGW before putting the vehicle back into normal service.
What the cable allows
Depending on your tool and your vehicle, the cable provides access to diagnostic, service, programming and key programming functions that are normally limited by the SGW. The available functions depend on your tool, not the cable.
